Should I secure them to the axle somehow to keep them from vibrating? I thought about rubber fuel line and clamps.

DOT... like they crawl under your jeep for the inspection. If the brakes work they work. I union ed all mine. 18 inch and 30 inch pieces. A lot easier than flaring while lying on my back under my jeep. Works just fine.

I secured mine in the plastic slots the old ones were in. I cut the old lines out with a pair of tin snips.

Yep. Chafing and vibrations should be at a minimum.

I did the best I could in a parking lot. Some lines touch other lines. I'm gonna take some fuel line and wrap them in the places it may rub

My XJ has some OE clip type brake line holders that screw down to the axle. I also used some spiral armor same as the OE.

You want to make certain the lines are fairly tightly secured to the axle as sticks and branches potentially become stuck underneath a vehicle. The armor is added protection from rocks, debris and other objects (such as sticks and branches) that become wedged in the suspension and stuck on top of the axle(s).

While running in the woods and mountains I occasionally get branches wedged in the suspension and axles. If I'm not paying close attention I'll drag from small to large branches quite a ways before stopping and removing.

They make foil tape that has fuzzy stuff on one side for water heaters. Wrap it then tape it with duct tape.
