Default Brake issues

So the brake line came loose on my 97 xj. Tightened it back up and have bled the brakes but its still bery soft after starting it. I get more pressure on the pedal if i let off and then press again while braking but then after letting off and having to brake again its soft. I dont see any leaks in the lines. And i have a ford 8.8 disc in the rear. I was thinking its the MC. Any help would be appreciated.

When you bled, did you start at the master cyl? Air bubble could have gotten that far. Did you bleed all 4 wheels? Did master get empty, or real close before you caught issue?

I would try bleeding the entire thing first. Was it the rear that leaked? I have seen proportioning valves get stuck to one side when there was a major leak on one side and someone mashed the pedal. This will make it next to impossible to fully bleed.

If this is possibly the problem it can be fixed, just open the opposite side and mash the pedal. you should be able to feel it free itself if this is the issue or even a possibility.

You should also bleed all four corners. Start with the corner closest to the MC and work your way out. Make sure your bleeding technique is solid. Otherwise you're not going to get all the air out of the system.

Nope!
After you bench bleed the master, you start with the furthest one which is the rear passenger then the rear drivers, front passenger then the front drivers side and repeat if needed.
