Does either the CF guy, thexjfiles, or that stroked site offer a true bored throttle? I figured there'd be more work for me if I were to buy a JY tb and have a machinist bore it. Sounded too easy haha.

www.strokedjeep.com has throttle bodies on an exchange basis and he puts the bigger butterflies in. Order one. When you get it installed, return your old one for a quick core refund.

I didn't want to make a new thread, since this one will work, but I'm on the fence about picking up a bored out TB. If I do buy one, it'll be from Dennis, thexjfiles. I'm reading different opinions on the upgrade. I do eventually plan on doing the Neon injectors too, so. But is it worth the money for the bored TB?

Cheers

i got one from xjfiles and noticed small power gain, but now that i think about it, i could have spent a little more and got the bigger bore with the bigger butterfly and would do that if i did it again...

My thoughts exactly. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. In this case, the weak link or restriction is the TB butterfly size.

I think thexjfiles bores his to 60mm, and I assume it comes with the appropriate valve? He said he could do, or has done 62mm, but I'd need to supply my own valve. Has anyone bought one from him? I was going to PM him, but I don't want to be a bother.

I bought from him. Came with a new butterfly. I installed it. I LOVE IT. I race my xj so it worked great for throttle response for me. Who cares about mpg's. Lol.

Yeah, MPGs are really one of the last things I care about, haha. I'm just wondering if it's worth the money and you actually see a difference. It appears you do.

i read that throttle body spacers don't change the performance because the chrysler 4.0 isn't even throttle body injected it's fuel rail injected is this true?

I'm not sure TB spacers work on anything!

And yes, the 4.0 has always been multi-point injection.

A bored throttle body is a nice upgrade. A throttle body spacer won't do you a bit of good on these.

I'll +1 to strokedjeep.com

I got a 62mm bored TB from him for my '92 xj. I love the thing, the throttle response is a big different and it is a kick to watch people drive my xj for the first time with it.
As a side note, I have an Auto. I can only imagine how much more fun a bored TB would make driving a manual.

i heard from somebody that going all the way to 62 or even 63 mm isnt good because it can make the engine bog, they said going in the middle of 58 and 63 to like 60 is better, any truth to this?
