So is it $160 with a new throttle body? My jeep is a DD so would it be $160 just to have him bore it ??

There's a member on here who bores TBs for something like $60. I don't recall the exact price, but I got one from him, and I'm happy. He also sends a partial-refund if you mail him your old TB. Mine does whistle at just over 1000RPM (deceleration whistle when I'm coasting), and in the high 2k range, but that's hard to hear over the engine. If you lightly sand to remove the hard edge on the butterfly valve, the whistle will stop. It doesn't bother me, though.

You're probably talking about Thexjfiles . He did one for me on my racerig, I noticed way better response to the throttle and it seemd to get up and go faster. I don't track fuel mileage or anything, but it didnt seem like it hurt anything, no whistling either. I also drilled about 30 1/2" holes in the factory airbox to get more air in, still running stock exhaust manifold, and can't hear any whistling.

That is who I meant, thanks. Like I said, I'm very happy with my purchase from him.

If you got a steady hand, you can DIY with die-grinder,barrel bit, and flapper wheel.Mark OD with new gasket, take you time.Changed cracked header, manifold gasket when i did this.Better low end but still crappy MPG.

www.strokedjeep.com bores them for $90 exchange. He installs a new larger butterfly also. . Porting them while keeping the stock butterfly yields much less gain. .

The intake manifolds are already of larger bore than the TBs, 60mm on a Renix and IIRC 62mm on an HO.

Yeah, I know. I just wanted to clarify the difference between porting a TB yourself and getting a bored one with the bigger butterfly to match.

www.strokedjeep.com does both Renix and HO TBs FWIW.

I've been thinking of getting a spacer or boring mine out. I've pretty much narrowed it down to boring it out if I wanted to do it. I was just wondering if it'd be worth the trouble. It's my DD, but I like to have a good time out on the trails. I have to run to the JY soon anyway, would it be the cheapest to buy a TB there, then have a machinist bore it out?

www.strokedjeep.com has them on an exchange basis. Easy.

I had PMed him after seeing someone mention his name, so I asked my questions, then I ended up finding his for sale thread, haha. I think I might go with him, since I'd feel more comfortable buying one that's good to go. Opposed to buying one from a JY, then getting it machined. Is it a bit more work then just boring it? Like any valve upgrade or anything? And also, I'm seeing different opinions, this is a noticeable upgrade, right? lol

Thanks guys!

A bored throttle body without a bigger throttle blade will offer little performance gain. Make sure you're getting a TRUE bored throttle body with the correspondingly larger butterfly.
