Bolt missing

Default Bolt missing

I have a 00 XJ on inspection my Right upper brake caliper bolt is missing it is stripped in the knuckle.

Caliper bolts don't break off in the knuckle. They strip the soft threads out from over-tightening. Torque spec is only around 16lb/ft (or something close to that), and people try to make them snug. It's an incredibly common problem

This had happened to mine at some point in the past. And when they used the Helicoil they didnt buy the right length bolt so it smashed the pad against the rotor. probably why the brakes were bad on that side

the point is do it right and make sure you use the proper size bolt. not just the length either

need to get yourself a helicoil kit for that an a new caliper bolt

The threads are stripped out, extremely common problem.

Honestly, if you're inexperienced at repairs, you need to have this professionally repaired. Brakes really aren't a trial and error area... For your safety and the people you share the road with.
