Haha your injectors get hot when your jeep sits because you don't have a heatshield over your exhaust. Either make a heatshield or wrap em with a high temp wrap. I saw plans for a heat shield somewhere. Renix has em. Check out my pics you'll see it

How would I wrap them and with what? Seems easier than the shield

Didn't you say it does it when you first start up? Maybe I missed something.... Last time I checked the AC output from my CPS it took just under 3 minutes. If you have access to a digital meter you might want to go ahead and rule that one out just on GP.
EDIT>>Oops! 96.....AC test is for Renix

no it doesnt do it from a cold start... it only happens are i shut off to get gass or go in a store after driving for like 20+ minutes (city) or stuck in traffic... so it actually sounds a lot like heat soak thats why im going to give the exhaust wrap a try...

On my 90, while I was in the store this heat shield would expand and short those wires there. You can see on the shield where they burnt. Turns out some may go to the O2 sensor. Maybe it would go like crazy, floored, because this Renix goes into open loop above 80% throttle, ignoring the O2 sensor.
(once I didn't turn it off all day so it wouldn't do it!)
Nailed it in only about 16 months! Once a backfire blew a mouse nest out of the front grille. Drove through the confetti. No sign of the mouse.
I could sometimes drive on an even low throttle. It would bog and/or backfire when I gave it more gas. Always felt like it was ready to die. Go like hell though if I put my foot into it.
When another guy posted the same thing fixed with an 02 sensor is when I guessed those wires where more likely to there, and not related to the injectors.
Slick knows his Jeeps! We both have heat shields, you might as well join the club.

It never hurts to inspect the harness that runs parallel to the valve cover.
I'm wondering if the OP has one or more leaking injectors that bleed down while sitting. This can be checked with a fuel pressure gauge.
I really don't think it's heat soak on a 96 XJ, this time of year in New Jersey.

Hey gizmo, I guess wrapping the injectors would serve the same purpose. That's what I meant by "join the club".
