Default Bogging/ gas pedal not working?

2000 jeep Cherokee 4.0 auto
So it's happened twice now, when I've started driving and the engine sounded really weird. And I was hitting the gas pedal and it wasn't making me go any faster, I was basically just moving at idle speed, it eventually kicks in and works fine but idk, the first time it was after I was sittin in my jeep for an hour with it on(not driving) the other time was right when I started it up.

Mine did something very similar when the Throttle position sensor went out.

Have you seen the check engine light? If so, you must retrieve codes for clues and guidance on where to look first. Even if you haven't seen a CEL, it would be worth it to scan your computer for "pending codes".

There are really a lot of possibilities here. Keep us posted!

it threw a code the first time and the person at auto zone said it was a misfire. And I know for sure I wasn't misfiring and that wouldn't have caused that (personally think he was reading a past code) but it didn't throw a code the second time

Update, still havnt figured out the problem but when I try to pull some one out of the mud or I'm stuck, any situation where I'm hitting the gas and not moving, the next time I start up the jeep it does the same thing and it's way worse then when I just idle

tps is probably bad.
they use a rheostat, could be dirty causing poor connection. pcm doesn't know when youre touching gas. just a thought. might want to go have it scanned at a place with someone that knows what they are doing.

it only happens when I let it idle for more than a minute or so and happens even worse when I hit that gas and don't move (like when I'm trying to pull someone out but it isn't really working lol)
