Seeing theres no high speed blower relay on 89s .Installing one might be in order.

Got a short ride in on way to work tonight. Its deff blowing better, had turn it down.

I bought one of those metal fans to test since I was pulling the blower anyway. I tried to test it in the car but failed--first time the fan bound up on something and blew the fuse, second time the fan was still binding and turning slowly but not enough to blow the fuse. After that I did some testing on the bench and it did not seem to move much more air. It was much louder though. Its possible that it moves more air when installed but I am done messing with it.

ps--I tested in my 91

Nope just make sure its down all the way on shaft and all three screws are in b4 powering up.

Maybe 91 is different Hvac box im 89.

I took another stab at this today and got it installed. The problem was the rubber gasket slipping a little and binding against the bottom of the fan. I measured the height (depth) of the original plastic fan and set the metal fan to the same height, which gave more space at the bottom than pushing it all the way down on the shaft (too much). Then I put a drop of superglue on the rubber gasket at each span to keep it from shifting during assembly. Fan is installed and working np. I have some kind of partial blocking in the dash, so I can't tell if it is working any differently, but it fits anyway.

had mine apart yesterday. a mouse had it packed full of shredded paper.

wonder how he felt as i turned it on high. lol.

Stumbled upon this yesterday when I needed to replace the harness side of the blower motor connector.

The ground for the blower motor is on the driver's side inner fender.

I cut the ground wire and placed both cut pieces into an eyelet and fastened it on the PASSENGER side inner fender. Blower now spins faster.......
