blower motor upgrade

I bought one of those metal fans to test since I was pulling the blower anyway. I tried to test it in the car but failed--first time the fan bound up on something and blew the fuse, second time the fan was still binding and turning slowly but not enough to blow the fuse. After that I did some testing on the bench and it did not seem to move much more air. It was much louder though. Its possible that it moves more air when installed but I am done messing with it.

Stumbled upon this yesterday when I needed to replace the harness side of the blower motor connector.
The ground for the blower motor is on the driver's side inner fender.
I cut the ground wire and placed both cut pieces into an eyelet and fastened it on the PASSENGER side inner fender. Blower now spins faster.......
