96 Cherokee 4.0. The blower motor makes a whining noise and kinda grumbles. It only once in a while but it's happening more and more. Any thought on how to fix it?

 

My grand prix was doing the same thing. I nursed it a couple of times before I had to replace it.

There is a bearing that needs to be lubed.

You can do it but it's not really designed to be done but is possible.

You want to do it early cause once the bearing is bad it puts un even wear on the bushing and once the bushing hole is elongated the blower fan will wobble and rub.

 

Over the last week there have been several threads about fan problems.

I guess the cold weather and age combined.

Best way to fix it is to install a new fan motor.

I am doing the same thing. Thought about getting one from the Junk Yard but how will you know it is not bad or gonna go bad.

One of my Xj's had the fan speed switch go bad so I am doing the switch/motor/resistor pack all at once just for peace of mind.
