Hey all. I’m looking for help from the Gurus once again. 1996 (late in the year) XJ Sport 4.0 AW4.
So.. long story short.. jeep got stolen I got it back. Engine had a knock before and wouldn’t pass smog after so I R&Red the engine.. in and out with a buddy and another guy helped with the assembly. Did the heater core and the A/C thing in the same box (dash came out and went back in. So, to the meat of the matter. Now, blower motor will not come on at the switch (this story down below) and the horn does not work. There are a couple wire connection plugs near the battery that are not hooked up to anything (pics included).
My question(s) are these.. or this if it’s only one: what did I do?? I think I read somewhere there is a fuse these two components share… is this true? Is there a high probability that I jacked some wires up behind the dash? Do these plugs come into play? Do these actually go anywhere (I know there are ghost plugs on this thing from no cruise control etc), or are they put there to make me question my grasp on reality? Any informed direction I could go into would be greatly appreciated. Anyhoo.. motor went in with some cuss words and was a trial to actually get to start .. but after some diligent mechanics we were able to get it started and the engine is amazing !! Stoked. Cept I have no ac and horn. Off to Mexico to get it painted .. soon. Anyways. Thanks for even reading this. And any help that may come.
Blower motor and switch: I thought the blower motor switch/resistor may be the problem; the harness plug and the resistor showed heat damage. So I spliced in a new pigtail and got a new resistor. And that fixed nothing. Well, maybe it did something but it’s still not working.
Two pics of this plug. I feel this should go somewhere Not sure at all about this. It’s on a short lead.
