Default Blowed oil filter gasket??

I changed my oil crunk it up checked for leaks etc. it was all good. Left going to work 5 miles from home and my oil filter gasket blows out and all my oil is gone, stuck on the side of the rd. So what would make the gasket just blow out??

It is a new Fram filter and I used regular 10-40 like always.

First mistake was using a Fram filter, second was you probably left the old oil filter o ring on the adapter.

People say the paper inside falls apart, it's been enough to scare me away from them, I use a Purolator oil filter now.

x2... I have SEEN what can happen to a Fram filter in just 2-3k miles. The element does deterortate just like you said. And Lord knows that shredded paper can't be good in the engine. I run a Mobile 1 filter, and soon may switch to Mopar. But yeah, stay away from Fram. They're bad news.

Heard bad things about Fram as well although I have used them a couple different times Unfortunately I heard about it after I had just changed the oil in my jeep for the first time after I bought it and used a fram filter. This time I went with the NAPA gold filter.

FRAMs also don't have a silicone anti-drainback valve, which can cause dry starts after the jeep has sat overnight or for a few hours.

That and the paper problem is why you should stay clear of them. Here is a list of bigger filters that will work...I use Wix myself...Tj
AC Delco- PF2
K&N Gold- HP-3001
Mobil 1- M1-301
Motorcraft- FL1A
Napa Gold- 1515
Purolator- L30001
WIX- 51515

Those Mopar filters are pretty good. I use those or the Mobil1 filter with a Mobil 1 oil change.
