Default block heater for my 4.0

winter is right around the corner and this year I dont have a spot in the garage because my malibu is staying home this winter so i was thinking of putting in a block heater to keep it warm and i have a feeling she will be a hard starter when it gets really cold. So what do you recommend as far as what one to use any input send it my way

Right now, I just have one of those magnetic heaters that sticks to the oil pan. I usually toss on a coat in the am during winter when I wake up and slap it on, plug it in, and then a little over an hour later when I go to leave seems like it starts a tad easier. But, since I recently switched to 5w40 full syn oil, cold oil isn't so much a concern for me here in VA. NOW, what I REALLY want to get next is the heater that splices into the lower radiator hose. I have a friend who uses one, and after and hour or so of being plugged in, his truck starts good and he has decent heat straight from the vents. Better than freezing *****, ya know?

It all depends on how cold winter gets for you. If you really wanna go all out, get a block heater that replaces one of the freeze plugs, and then get a heater pad for under the battery.

Hope this helps!

also used these on a couple tractors before.

they work awesome and they just T into the lower radiator hose.

not a fan of frost plug heaters. sometimes leak if not done right and a bear to replace.
