Default Blinker/Windshied Wiper switch assembly

I have a 89 xj.

The blinker/windshield wiper switch assembly has broke. The wiper part does not work at all, I have to turn it forward (washer mode) for the wipers to work. I have to hold the right blinker on, and the high beams wont click on.

Here is the question, I have looked everywhere for the whole switch assembly and I cannot find it anywhere. does anyone know where i can get one?

I live in washington state, and the rain is here. It is a real pain right now having to activate the wipers every 4 seconds.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

You'd probably be lucky if you could find one at a Dodge dealership seeing how Cherokee's are discontinued, but it doesn't hurt to make a phone call. Up until about 94-95 Cherokee's have the GM Column. I know this because my father in law is the parts manager at Tucson Dodge. So I'm not sure whether or not you could get one at a GM Dealer, maybe for a Buick or something. But I know when my Oldsmobile switch(same column) was broken in an attempted theft, that switch was extremely hard to find. So what I did is find a switch that looked identical, except it had a few extras on it, for cruise control maybe. Anyway I think I cut off the extras, cut off the plug part on the switch and car harness, then spliced together the remaining colors, used heat shrink tubing and wrapped with electrical tape for a solid connection and everything worked out fine..If nothing else you might find one at a junk yard...like I said you should have a GM column... the Wranglers might even have it too, so you don't have to limit yourself to just Cherokees.

Actually I think I found it for you....go to the link above and check out the 4th part down....I'm almost positive this is the switch you need, it's just missing the lever....

It is also on www.rockauto.com. the wiper switch and the signal light switch look like they are seperate. Both are under the "electrical - switches/relays" section under your vehicle year, make and model.

Saw a lot of them in stock carpartswholesale.com under the category of Jeep Grand Cherokee Parts (hotwired ya to the place, just key in your year) page and other Jeep parts which are OEMs and shipped to the USA and Pacific.

Most recently, I bought my Windshield Rotors there.

Good luck.

NAPA will have your multi function switch, it is the same as a Chevy from the same year as your Jeep. 84-94 XJs share the same steering parts column as most GM vehicle built in the 80s to early 90s.
