Default Blend door recalibration

I have some heat coming out of the dash vents with the temp selector set to cold. It is 20 degrees warmer than the ambient temp. I have really good heat when the temp is set to high on all vent positions. My AC is very marginal and I was told there is a leak in the condenser. I have all the parts to replace the AC system and will be doing this before summer gets here. But that heat that is getting by can't be helping the cooling problem. It looks like the blend door my not be closing all the way on cool and some air is getting by allowing heat to come back in. I would like to know if anyone else has this problem. I know it is the opposite of the no heat problem but should help with the cooling problem.

All the cooling system components have been replaced (ALL). The Jeep runs great and runs at normal temperature. I'm at 98,000 miles

I believe '01 XJs have a motor actuated blend door vs older XJs r cable actuated and easily adjusted. Don't know if the motor actuated can be adjusted. CCKen will be along.....he knows that stuff like the back of his hand.

I think you've answered your own question. If your AC is leaking (marginal) you will see heat simply because the AC system charge is low or empty.

The blend-air door actuator is not adjustable. However, there is a possibility the the door is sticking and not closing off the heater core airflow. But I think you should check the Refrigerant charge to see if it's too low or empty before looking into the blend-air door sticking.
