Default 2000 XJ with factory low pinion D30?

So I have had my XJ for 2 months now and while installing some JK shocks up front, I noticed the diff is a low pinion D30. Didn't think they came through that way. Anyone else have one or know the production story behind it? I thought they all came with high pinion D30s.

The 2000s and 2001s came with the LP from factory

Common thinking is that Chrysler knew they were about to end the XJ's production run with the 01 year, so instead of continuing to make specific d30's for the XJ (the HP one) they simply increased production of the TJ d30 model and used those to finish it out.

Hp because the pinion pushes on the stronger side of the ring gear.

Yes thanks. That was excellent. Not much room for interpretation with that explanation! Guess I found another reason that my XJ will stay at the stock height; with the dana rear, and lp front stock it will stay.
