Default Bleeding Closed cooling system 89 Xj

Hello All,

I have an 89 XJ with a closed cooling system and the upper radiator hose seems to be collapsed a tad bit, not completely collapsed but I don’t know if that’s normal (see pic). In any case was thinking about just bleeding the system for maintenance and possibly changing out hoses unless there are other suggestions.

But the reason for the post is to get some help on how to bleed the system. I haven’t been able to find anything on google so if someone can share a link it would be much appreciated.

Bleeding the system is only done when refilling the cooling system completely.
Honestly, I've neve had the need to do it.

At this point, I would replace that hose and consider replacing the lower one also after inspection.

Either that hose is failing apart and become flimsy, or the cap is not letting air back into the surge tank (or radiator if you've converted to the later open system).
