Default BIG lift ?

I'm goin big with my new XJ and was wondering what problems I may run into. I'm gonna be around 10" of lift. My main concern is drive shaft angle and I already have an SYE

Yea, he custom made a 10" lift for some guys on Pirate4x4.

He is the only person I know of that makes it.

It's your rig and you can certainly do what you want with it, but I'm gonna say a 10 in. lift on an XJ is overkill.

True. Just woundering why ? So any help given can be given in the correct direction. I know guys that just want to go high on the lift, for looks, not function. Look at every other F-150 in Md. I'm built for rock crawling. It say's say 7 in lng arm lift.(It's more like a 6 in). It's not always about how high you go to everyone. But proper info is a good way to start.

I'm going that big to clear big tires for running in snow. I already have a wheeler so I'm not to concerned about trails. My buddys neighbor had one with a 12" short arm and cleared 35s with no trimming

I have a 6.5" with 35"s and no trimming.....

Edit-Wider tires are worse in the snow.

you can clear 35s on 6.5 inches no problem. 10 inches is sincerely stupid tall makes no sense even if just for snow. a 12 inch short arm? how?!

^. I did NO cutting with 6.5 and I clear 35"s with no rub.

Military uses thin deep grooved tires for a reason. What do rally cars use? Thinner. Also take a look at most 4x4's with plows. They all use tall narrow tires. Narrow tires are better for winter, more weight in one area, helps it grip and cut into the snow, where with wider ones its less weight distributed over area which gives you less traction. Tires should be thinner. Due to them having a thinner wheel base, the tire will have more pressure on the road surface, thus allowing the tires to penetrate the snow layer and grip harder snow or road surface beneath.

I ran 8" skyjacker springs and 1" blocks and had no issues with drive lines. I also had a SYE with a CV rear drive shaft. You should be ok with the drive shafts. Steering, brake lines, all that other stuff is where you will run into problems.

As for 6.5" of lift, 35's, no cutting and no rubbing.....I guess that will work if you have about zero up travel. My first lift was 6" and I ran 33's and they rubbed like a mother. So much that they actually bent my front fenders. I should mention that the rubbing was at full stuff, at ride height they did not rub even turned lock to lock.

He just extended some aftermarket arms. Last I heard he long armed it tho. Anyway its just an idea. I will probaly end up around 8". I want it to clearand beable to have a useful amount of flex so I will see where it ends up.
I'm not to sure how a 35 fits on a 6.5 ether. My other XJ has one with only 32's and I trimmed so they wouldn't rub
