Better headlights over 'stock'

Just built my own headlight relay harness using Bosch relays and installed a pair of Phillips CrystalVision Ultra H6054 headlights, WORLD of difference. Now I can identify other non-relayed Cherokee's on the road at night before I see them by their poorly lit sealed beams!

Haha. Man, what a difference. I haven't scrolled through the whole thread (sorry), but is that the Putco harness that has as many happy as disappointed members? And then with upgraded relays or something?
Congrats with your 'night vision'....

For the sake of fairness my passenger side headlight was pretty useless, which is why I was in the market for a headlight mod. If you had 2 fully functioning headlights the difference wouldn't be as dramatic.
We went to the movies, saw Maze Runner, it's pretty good. Should be a good series, not as good as the Hunger Games but good non the less.
And yes that is the infamous harness, 27$ on amazon I used the relays that came with it. It's painfully easy to install and works fantastically. Second best upgrade I've done yet, my cupholder mod is #1......

When I got my Cherokee it was mostly for my son to drive. One night he took my wife's Escape instead and when he came home asked how to turn the Escape's headlights off high beam. They were on low. I took the Cherokee out after dark for the first time and thought the headlights weren't even on.
I checked voltage at the headlight and with the engine running was only getting about 10.3V! It ought to be over 13.5V! So I made my own relay harness as well. Now I'm getting full alternator voltage to the headlights, and with stock headlights the differences are phenomenal. But not surprising since going from 10.3 to 13.6V increases the wattage by 74%!
I'm sure I could have had the same results with an aftermarket harness, I just chose to make my own. But as many others have said here, do the harness first! Nothing else will give you anywhere near the same bang for the buck, and any aftermarket lights will be so hamstrung by the stock harness that they won't be worth their cost.

I love to build things myself vs buying things. But as I've gotten older I've made a set of guidelines that dictate weather I should build or buy since time is so valuable. In this instance I'm only going to save a few dollars for all that effort if I make one so I purchased the putco and am pleased so far.

I think the problems folks encounter is a result of poor grounding of the relays.

Also keep in mind it's the internet and people are stupid. You can't believe anything, just go on amazon and read reviews, some ******* will give a 1 star rating because it took 2 weeks to shipping and handling.
If you study closely when researching online you can seperate the BS from the useful info.

Poor grounding seems to be a common theme, I sanded of the paint to bare metal for both grounds on the Putco harness.

You should indeed consider advertising
Maybe I should look into buying those after all. Have been leaning towards and moving away from them for quite some time, yes also due to what you read with experiences people had with the Putco.
For the $$ it's worth a try, just dont want them to fail on me in middle of the night on a dirt road home...
And yes, agree on internet and people being stupid...good thing this is not the internet
