I wish. I lost it a few months back in cash for clunkers (not my choice, bought it off my parent but chyrsler never sent the bill of sale when it was paid off 10+ years ago so I couldn't do jack about her decision to screw me over). I loved the sound. It sounded like a baby v8 at idle. I had a DEEP rumple, not super loud at idle but could be heard, but when you stepped on it, it sounded like that beast wanted to suck the world through the intake and spit it out in a million pieces. I decided since it wasn't lifted to run it under the drive shaft and have it exit on the drivers side instead of on the passenger side. Cost me an additional $13 in pipe. I would roll down my window and just rev that thing every chance I got. For a sound, look under your jeep, and between the cat and muffler, it should be connected by either a weld, or u bolt clamp. If its a u bolt just disconnect the cat back and let it hang. If its a weld, a sawzall works wonders. Then stand on the passenger side and kneel down (at least 5 feet away) and have someone rev it for you. I had a glass pack on mine to start, and it was pretty nice, but once I took it off one day doing some routine repairs, and forgot to re install it... it never went back on. You rev it and it will put any ricer in its place. If you dont like how it sounds, just re- attach the cat back with the ubolt, or if you end up cutting it, a 2.25 exhaust connector and 2 u bolts should be around $5 at a parts store. But once you hear it, I bet you'll keep it that way. The cost of a cat back system vs the performance gains isnt too high. You gain maybe 1, possibly 2 mpg. And thats if you drive it nicely and don't step on it. And with a modified exhaust, stepping on it is half the fun. It appears your just looking for sound, so ditching the muffler and dumping it out the side sounds like a good option for you.

Eh, **** happens. I had it fully restored minus the floor, and had the full replacement kit on order. But, I got the keys to the KJ, and while it is an independent front suspension which sucks cause you can lift it very little, the manual trans and rot free body are nice. I'm working on getting another Cherokee so all is not lost.

Here are the the shots of the exhaust to shackle clearance. How much longer did you say your extended shackle was?

theyre about an inch and a half longer and a little bit wider. by the looks of it, it seems like im going to have to bend the tailpipe a little. when i put them on, i even had to bend the stock pipe over a bit, but thats when i had access to any tools i needed. but i definitely like it. its what im looking for. nothing too loud. i think im going to get it anyways. thanks a lot for your help i appreciate it.

X2...unless it has a aggressive cam..the mellow tone of the 4.0 bothers me...however as mentioned the aeroturbine is a neat sound but it is $$$

Have you ever heard a xj with the exhaust cut off after the cat and dumped out the side? There is nothing "mellow" about it.

One thing I noticed, your tail pipe hanger is the rubber hoop. The kit comes with the rod that fits through the hole in the factory rubber grommet. There may have to be a little tweaking there.
