oh and to answer the thread question

I run Valvoline Synpower 10w30 with a K&N Wrench off Oil Filter
I change my oil every 6500 or so. However, I really base the condition of my oil by checking the dipstick and what color the oil is.

Valvoline premium conventional oil. My engine seems to like it and a K&N filter. Altough the price is a little high for the K&N and I might go back to a mopar.

Maybe try a syn blend first. As far as filters.. Wix (NAPA gold), Baldwin/Hastings, Donaldson, Purolator/Bosch. I believe the Amsoil filters are made by Baldwin, donaldson, or both depending.

I've been using Wal Mart brand filters and oil, 10w-30 for about 5 years, and change my oil every 5000 miles

Was in a pinch and had to use a Fram filter on my old Ford. It knocked like crazy on startup (not just the first one after the oil change). Switched the next day to my normal WIX filter, no more noise. Ever since that I do not care if I have to ride a bicycle for a day I will never put another Fram filter on any vehicle I own. As for oil I just use conventional 10w-30 Quaker State normally.

I don't think the Fram's have an anti-drainback valve...probably where your startup chatter came from. I had a Grand Prix that I didn't take very good care of (always used cheap oil/oil filters on, including Fram) and it did the same thing.

I use Rotella T6 5W-40 and a Purolater PureOne filter (oversized).

You guys need to get more ZDDP in your engines...

Shell Rotella T6 5W40 for my XJ also: we had a few mornings when I started it at -10 and it purred right up. I have been running Wix filters for awhile and like them a lot.

Ive been thinking about switching from valvoline 10w40 to the rotella 5w40 for the winter.

Heard good things, hows your pressure?

With a standard-size filter, the pressure stays between 35 and 50 psi.
Since I addd an oversized Wix filter, it jumped to 60psi at startup, until the engine warms up, then settles to 40 to 50 psi.

Does anyone know where I could find a cross reference sheet for Motor Oil manufactures?

I am trying to clarify who makes what store brands and I have googled this to death and just cant find any concrete info, just conflicting forum posts. Shouldn't this info be posted on the manufactures website or something??
