Default Bendix Box but Jeep doesn't have ABS?

I have this aluminum Bendix box mounted under the dash near the center on my 89. It looks factory mounted. From searching (yes I used the search tool ) this leads me to thinks it's an ABS controller on 89-90 model. However there are some discrepancies that makes me think it never had ABS:

1. The box is under the dash but should be under the rear seat for it to be the ABS controller.
2. ABS is not listed in the build sheet.
3. I don't have ABS equipped axles.
4. I don't have ABS system on the master cylinder.
5. No ABS action when smashing the brake pedal.

So what else could this box be?

2nd Question. It also have this yellow plastic box near the fuse box under the left dash. Not mounted, but just up behind the wires.

Yes, I just spent an hour+ under there perusing the situation. Replacing the sucky brake light switch with a new and only slightly less sucky brake light switch.

thanks

It's the ECU.

Yellow box is the cruise control module.

That Bendix box is the "ix" part of Renix. "Renault" makes up the prefix. The amalgamation makes Renix.

That's the ECU. RENIX is a portmanteau of RENault and bendIX - Renault spec'd the system, Bendix built it.

And don't feel bad about long posts - look at some of mine sometime... Besides, if you give too much information, we can always ignore what we don't need. If you don't give us enough, we have to start asking questions!
