Default Belts and Hoses, what happened to Goodyear?

1996 XJ Sport, Manual

Has Goodyear stopped making belts and hoses for 1996 Jeeps? On Rock Auto I never see Goodyear listed for my vehicle. IIRC, the original belt was Goodyear Gator and it lasted forever. Right now I am torn between an AC DELCO 6K950 {#88932792} Professional; Standard replacement ($23.79) and a AC DELCO K060950HD Specialty; Heavy Duty ($36.79) and the couple of bucks is not an issue if the heavy duty belt is actually a better belt.

On hoses and belts I've also read (maybe here) that Gates is real good, but know nothing about Dayco, the latter listed right along with AC Delco and Gates.

Any opinions from you serious experience folk?

IIRC, Goodyear belts are now being sold under the Continental brand.

I installed a DAYCO #5060950 belt I got from R/A in November of '16. Readjusted it after ~100 miles and haven't heard a peep (squeal, chirp, whatever) out of it since.

Thanks y'all!

Just noticed Gates has this:
GATES K060950HD {Click Info Button for Alternate/OEM Part Numbers} FleetRunner Heavy Duty Micro-V Belt W/Left Hand Drive ($29.79) which is the same part number as the AC Delco heavy duty.

Going out on a limb here and guessing Gates makes both.

Any downside to using a heavy duty belt in daily driver street Jeep?

Gates HD belts are awesome (mostly cause they are green!). They dont make them in too many sizes so if you can get one for the Jeep, do it. I run those specifically on my race cars and they seem to outlast normal belts by double. The green backing also lets you know when its time to replace the belt as it will turn solid black.

Edit - This one has about 500 race miles on it and you can see its almost all the way black. Just about time to replace. But, it hasnt stretched at all!

That was another reason why I suspected Gates made the AC Delco belt, they both have the same green on them.

Guessing there is no downside to running a HD belt on my street Jeep? I have the GATES K060950HD in my Rock Auto shopping cart now.

Buy it. No downside to running the HD belt. If you can find the gates "racing" belt (blue one), that would be even better.

The plan right now is replacing the belt I have, still looks good so will keep it as a spare, when I replace A/C compressor/clutch/accumulator. Still studying up on how to do the A/C stuff. Might have to replace condenser according to the alert Rock Auto gave me on what I selected there.
