So I was wondering if this board has experience with the Red Head product line.
Not cheap, but I'm sick and tired of replacing these crap rebuilds from the box stores every other year..

I just rebuild my own its pretty straight forward and plenty of how to threads and videos on the web so far I am 3 for 3 on them turning out good and 2 of them wer Durango boxes I machined (with a grinder) the steering stops so they would mimic the factory xj box I ordered parts from ebay
I've had poor luck with Autozone style stores but you get what you pay for, I guess. Have you seen what the dealer will offer? It might be cheaper than the Red Head, ~$350 ones and might be better than the junk you get for under $120.

The parts guy at the dealer claims there are no new units available anymore. Just remans.
The thought of using my "lifetime guarantee" option is no longer an option.
The thought of selling and getting something newer is quickly becoming an option.

Unfortunately he's right. The industry now uses rack&pinion so the demand for gearboxes isn't great enough to make new ones. There's a BIG difference between a rebuild and a reman. They don't use new worms or sectors in today's "remans."

That was a tough bill to pay. The results are worth it for now. Steering inputs are tight and without wandering in the lane.
370$ for the box and shipping to RedHead not counting ball joints, idler arm, etc.
So if this box doesn't leak or crap out on me in 20K I'll be a happy camper.
Cheers
