id say 4.5 safely outta s-10 leafs. heck you can make em outta darn near any leafs, but the taller the rougher the ride. go with f-350 leafs
im being a little sarcastic so please dont it'll ride like a tank and not a new one either.

i've explained this before. but i'll say it again. this is good for a cheap leaf pack lift.
i've done it with both s-10 leafs, and dakota leafs. they are both 2" wide leafs.
a couple had flat leafs to begin with, and still got a good 4".
first, cut the eyelets off the doner leafs, and take the top 3 from each pack.
split your xj leafs between the top main leaf and insert the top 3 doner leafs in between. install new longer center pins. then using c-clamps or bessie clamps, squish the new packs and clamp on some new spring wraps (make sure they're located properly). install them in the jeep using new u-bolts. get a spring shop to make up the new u-bolts and center pins.
this will net you between 4 and 5 inches, and flex quite nicely.

search naxja for the dodge van leaf pack swap.
there is some modification needed and i recommend using tnt or RE boomerang shackles but its worth it in the end.
the longer leaf gives u a better shackle angle which results in a better ride and great flex. i got about 5.5 from my setup
i did
dodge van leaf main
Comanche second and 3rd
and then no overload
u can sub s-10 leafs for the comanche ones
