Ball Joints
I think Im in need of new ball joints. My passenger side tire is wearing on the outside of the center lugs and the drivers side is wearing on the inside of the center lugs and my tires look to be pointed towards each other at the tops of the tires. So what are some good cheap ball joints? I found some for 9.96 for top and bottom ball joints for one side so Id need two kits but not sure if I should get off set ones or not. Any help would be great

If you have that much wear, it may be more than just ball joints. I have done two sets on two jeeps in two years, and it is an all day job (for me), given lack of a proper lift. Be careful, use stands, and think about the process as you go through it. There are good posts here for ball joints, do a bit of reading. Sounds like you're straight on cheap parts (bad idea). If your jeep has reasonable miles on it (200k), might be a great time to check and perhaps replace tie rod ends, track bar, control arms, etc. Control arms may be the most expensive at like $65 each. You're going to have to buy a front end alignment any time you do front end work, so my thought is may as well do it all at once and buy a single alignment. I'd recommend that you have at least a MAP gas torch on hand before you tie into the ball joints, will come in handy. The standard parts store loaner ball joint press has worked fine for me. Don't forget to get the BJ splitter at the same time. Good luck!

Good advice from Dr J but what kind of control arms did you get for $65 each? I've never see aftermarket stock arms near that price but I got mine some years ago and I'm sure enough no expert (understatement!).

The control arms I got were bone stock, Auto Zone. I got the kind with bushings already pressed in, the increase in cost was worth the time I thought it would take me to get the old ones out and new ones in. Maybe they were $50, maybe they were $70, but in that ballpark. If you have time, shop around. My charriot gets little off roading, just a few mud holes goin in and out of the woods is all. She's old, wearing out, comfortable and not very particular. Like me.
