Stumble/Stutter from tranny?
Hi guys
Lately on my 2001 XJ (AW4 automatic transmission) while driving on the freeway when I am in OD and pick up speed from 70-75mph the whole Jeep stutters and shakes quickly. It almost feels like the tranny is slipping (the same kind of bucking/hesitation you'd get on a car that needs new plug wires and rotor). It just started happening a few days ago but doesn't happen every single time.
Any ideas? is this a common issue? I am gonna change the tranny fluid (don't know when it was changed last, vehicle has 120,000 miles)..hopefully that'll help. I feel like it may even be the converter slipping?
thanks!

1. What COLOR is the fluid? Should be red.
2. Smell the fluid. Does it smell BURNT?
3. Is fluid at the correct LEVEL on the dipstick?
When you change out your fluid, use Dex/Merc III compatible, not ATF+4. Some (not all) using ATF+4 have experienced slippage. Why take the chance when Dex/Merc is the fluid that the transmission mfg. recommends and has stood the test of time.

I know the fluid level is ok.
