Most recent issues may include vacuum or alternator issues....
NOW... the engine wont even turn over...
First, i checked battery (optima Red top)
Next I checked starter (mean green MG3210-J2)
tic tic tic sound during on key attempts.
I crawled under the Jeep and had someone try to start it and confirmed the sound was coming from it. I could also feel it each time we attempted key on.
She'll probably be going to the shop AGAIN....and probably forking out another thousand dollars

This is beginning to be more than nickel and dime-ing me.... AND i don't even have a lift kit or any modifications done.
Seriously having second thoughts about anything else with this jeep...

New parts I've put on in the past 2 years:
starter
flexplate
CPS
neutral safety switch
radiator
waterpump
thermostat
heater control valve
oil pressure sending unit
fuel filter
air filter
oil filter
plugs
wires
cap rotor
muffler back exhaust
ball joints
4 new tires
optional stuff:
radio
console
dual overhead rear speakers
I love my Jeep; even been in a magazine. But enough is enough. Its not fun anymore because its broke WAY more than its driven. AND NO, its not broke from me having fun... its broke because it was running fine one day and then its down the next. I baby it as much as possible - which is why I don't understand why I am having all these issues.
What do I do from here?

Do you use this Jeep as your DD or does it sit for long periods of time?If it does sit for long periods of time does the Jeep have a battery tender on it... Do you have the correct battery charger for your dry cell battery... Did you check to see if it has fuel or spark... before checking anything else... hope this helps a little bit

its my DD however its been taking up space in front of the house.
Here is another mind bender...
The floor board has had water on it after it rains (thought when I drive in the rain - no dripping...
Recently I have found corrosion residue like a battery gets, on the floor.
1) need body work
2) wire tracing (i dread the thought)
I've only had it wheeling 3 MAYBE 4 times in the 2 years i've had it, so it has not been beaten like a red headed step child.

the wet floors could be from a rotted threw floor boards and it seeping in from underneath, or a bad windshield seal, or sunroof drain tubs if you have a sunroof...
the residue on the floor isn't mold from the water problem is it? good luck.

being that the red top may be low/no charge, should i go ahead and invest in a new alternator (still the stock one)
if i do, i think i may just go for the Mean Green MG1334-D1 to complete the alternator/starter set.
The red top battery is a few years old, should i replace it or recharge it?
feedback welcome

Quick update:
Battery went to parts store, read 11.98v
lady has me take my optima red top to the charger
and says to look around for a few to let it charge.
little did i know she put it on quick charge
the manager says it has to be on trickle charge
I thought optima brags about being the fastest charging battery
that outlasts the competition....
any suggestions? feedback welcome

put a voltmeter across the battery and measure voltage, the bat should be 12v , attempt to start the jeep and have someone watch the meter and see what the battery voltage does.....if it drops below 9.5 - 10v either the batt is toast or the starter has a heavy amp draw. If you still get a click with no voltage drop it is likley a poor connection at the batt/starter. (can you turn the engine by hand?)
Good luck

Went to the parts store to get relays
a-zone can't order them
got to talking with an ase mechanic (small town here), after i mentioned the water and carbon mist (when throttling up)coming from the exhaust and the lawnmower like rough idle. He gave me unfavorable news that it might be a cracked cylinder wall. Which supposedly would cause the misfire codes, the over heating, and the engine not turning over.
any thoughts? feedback welcome

battery is going in, in the AM (day off YAY)
wondering if my HD starter is crapped out (BFM will tell the tale tomorrow i suppose)
will have pics, maybe a vid (if I can post a vid here)
Where's the water? I had a problem with water in the drivers front floor board after a good rain storm but there were no visible leaks.
Buddy of mine pointed at the rubber cap on the roof rack. After pulling it out, the plug was dried up and rotten and didn't fill the hole. I pulled off the caps, welded the hole shut and no more leaks.
Your mileage may vary, but give it a shot.
