so ive benn trying to trace these new vibes i have, it seems to be more centered towards the front of the jeep, also i have this clunking noise coming from the right front side of the axle, so my thoughts now are the u joint up there is shot, so i went to look at it and i noticed there is an orange powder on everything, which ive heard is a sign of dead u joint, sound about right?
Sounds like the rod bearings are shot and the powder left over has gotten all over everything. Pull the rotor, caliper, and hub off and have fun pounding out an axle u-joint. If one's gone bad, the other probably isn't too far from it too. Might as well do 'em both just to play it safe.

I'm right in the middle of U-joints on my D30 and just had the weirdest break on my new Spicer 760...check this out.

Still think Spicer is the way to go.
One I removed...Mmmm rusty powder.

A ball joint press will make short work of the removal.

Well, I just found out about this. Did mine a couple weeks ago. Passenger side was easy, driver side took fire to cook out the old u joint. Also noone warned me, when i was reinstalling the pass side axle i wasn't all that careful, and busted my inner axle seal. Now I have a annoying little axle leak and the seals are not that easy to procure.
advance auto carries the axle seals. You can order them online and have them shipped to you if you don't have a store nearby.

fairly simple to test of a ujoint is bad, grab the shaft and wiggle it, if it moves at all its bad. I changed two u joints in an hour. its doable in a day even if you have zero knowledge but do yourself a favor and get the ujoint press tool. Makes things 100 times easier, especially when you're new.
