Backfire Help!!
I have 1990 cherokee, I havent had it but about 2 weeks and Im trying to get it running pretty decently but I cant seem to get rid of a little backfire. At first it would backfire through the intake now after fixing vacuum lines and changing the plugs and rotor button. It will backfire if you Rev it up amd let off and if you give it gas it bogs before it revs up and will die if you just let out the pedal. You have to ease the rpms down.
Rotor Cap and Wires get changed Thursday when i get paid. Someone said it maybe a fuel filter. Does that sound right.
Oh Im new to the Jeep life if you cant tell.

Check your timing, the timing is not adjustable but it is possible someone removed the dist and did not get it just right when they put it back in,just put it at tdc and make sure the rotor is just before #1 on the cap, also check to see if the dog ears are still on your dist, sometimes people break these off so they can adjust timing, but that is when they have added a larger cam.
