With any traction enhanced diff on slick pavement u can't drive with SFB syndrome. Be smart/behave oneself and the torque of both wheels driving is way better than a one tire fire. Most auto lockers ratchet/click in a turn......the PowerTrax No-Slip is the only auto locker, that I'm aware of, that makes no noise in a turn. Install is easy....there's no ring/pinion set-up required.

Auto lockers r always locked, except in a tight turn. In a turn, they unlock and allow axles to differentiate. As soon as both wheels r turning the same speed, they lock.
Good to hear. I just installed a Powertrax No-slip in my 8.25. It's not on the street yet because of other things getting fixed and upgraded, so I haven't driven it yet. I'm installing an Aussie locker up front, and I totally expect that to click more than the Powertrax.

Sounds like u got your info about auto lockers from someone that's clueless about auto lockers. Look again at my pic....it's in the fully locked position in the pic. How can a diff be locked in a turn?......it can't, it has to differentiate in a turn which means it has to unlock a turn. It locks when both wheels turn at equal speeds.

Any vehicle with a traction enhanced diff (LSD or locker) will tend to fishtail when both wheels loose traction on slick pavement. Again, u can't drive with SFB syndrome on slick pavement, especially when the vehicle has a traction enhanced diff of whatever kind.

LOL, I just realized what you meant by SFB syndrome. The info I was thinking of was a video showing the internal operating of the PowerTrax or other lunchbox locker. What I remember is that the teeth would only uncouple when the power wasn't being applied, or at least not heavily. Let me see if I can dig up that video.

Edit: Here's the video. I just rewatched it and realized my mistake. As the outside wheel follows a longer arc than the inside, the torque on that side of the diff is low, allowing that side to decouple. Makes sense now.

If u r on dry pavement, it is going to unlock in a turn.....one usually lifts on the skinny pedal when entering a turn, regardless of what kind of diff they have, right? It unlocks while in the turn and locks when both wheels r turning at equal speed. If u hammer down in a turn, the inside wheel will loose traction and as soon as that inside wheel equals the speed of the outside wheel, the unit locks.

FWIW, the unit in that video is the Richmond Gear Lock Right auto locker.....not the Richmond Gear PowerTrax No-Slip auto locker. They look similar but they r different. They do both function similar to each other but they do not function exactly the same.

If u want the silent, no ratcheting/no clicking in a turn auto locker, it's got to be the PowerTrax No-Slip unit. The Lock Right unit ratchets/clicks in a turn.
Again, SFB syndrome driving on ANY slick surface with ANY type of traction enhanced diff will likely end up with the vehicle fishtailing.

Ah, thanks. I was confused by the brand terminology. The No-Slip is the one I'm looking at. Quiet on the street is my goal.

To the OP if possible sell the D35 for as close to what you paid for it as possible (hopefully). Then go with a Chy 8.25 29 spline locked at least twice as strong differential if not more and cheap. I have Detroit Lockers in my D30/Chy 8.25 and love it very quiet and very strong, dependable.
