I'm just doing a bunch of research on axle types and just trying to get a better understanding of how my jeep operates. What is the best kind of axle out there for our xjs? and why is it the best?

Dana 60... its biggest...

For what ACTUALLY comes in the XJ, Dana 44/C8.25 are best.

the 8.8 is pretty popular as well...the disc brakes are a plus on them and if you can find one with an open carrier thats even better

I thought that about the 44/60 I'm running till I started breaking shafts.
I was building a front 60 for mine but sold it and hoping to find some 404s to put in a 2 seat buggy I plan to start on this spring.
