ok i have a 200 xj and i cant tell the difference in my rearend how can i tell the difference between a dana 35 and the 8.1/2

 

2000 I can say it's most likely the Chrysler 8.25

Or you can look at the axle and if it has a flat bottom that hangs out below the cover, it's an 8.25. Also you can look at if the breather line comes out from the top of the brake line box it's 8.25. Dana's breather line is just next to this in the axle directly.
