Right, I did that about two weeks ago, and it was shifting super tight (almost too tight), and I also got this "whining" noise once and I while after I did it (I posted about it earlier in this thread).
So yesterday, I repeated the process to make sure it was done correctly the first time around(maybe I hadn't pushed the cable all the way in or something). Now the black piece/cable is sticking out farther than it did the first time around, and my trans is back to slipping again.
What I want to know is if I can manually adjust it myself, so that the black piece/cable is pushed back in a little bit more than it is now, but not as far as it was the first time I did it. I just wonder if that could be a problem.

You only need the teeniest amount of slack in that cable.

So I'm safe to push the cable back in and adjust it myself instead of the normal way where it adjusts itself? I feel like if I made the cable a little bit tighter myself it would tighten the shifting back up and rid the slipping again. But I worry that if I don't adjust the cable the way it was meant to be adjusted, it'll screw something up.

Alright cool! I didn't think it would but I wanted to ask people who would actually know. Considering it stop the slipping the first time around!
