Default AW4 "Dust Cover"

I am just getting into the XJ game so forgive my ignorance. I purchased this vehicle with the engine out of it but came with "all" the parts necessary to put it back together, yeah right lol. Anyway, one of the many parts that are missing its the dust cover or engine plate. This is a 97 AW4 with the 4.0. All the searching i did last night came up with nothing with would fit that combination. Now this is where my ignorance comes in, I dont know what Jeeps and their components are adaptable with each other, so i could just have wasted three hours of my life last night.

Thats the closest thing i could even come up with. I searched for the original part as well, and it has been discontinued.

The link just leads to their home page.
Thinking you mean these. There are 2 pieces. Upper and lower.

Those are just for the pictures. I hope you can find them cheaper then that cause that pricing seems a little insane IMO.

If the 2Wd and the 4WD are the same, I may have them for you. I'm scrapping my 97 4WD. PM me with an offer.

Otherwise, watch your local Craigslist for part-outs. Or this forum's Part Out section.

a willing seller and an eager buyer, postage isnt a lot within a Country presumably, I have bought and sold many parts locally, even internationally with Forum people and never had a bad experience

Thinking that would be fun piece to have to get at though.

The upper part requires separation of the trans and the engine. The lower part can be removed easily while everything is together.. It's really an inspection port for the flex plate.

Thank y’all for the help on this. I ended up having to go a different route. The engine that I was given to put in this Jeep was completely trashed. I went to a junkyard and bought another one, which solved my problem of not having the dust cover as well. Hopefully no more hiccups when I get the engine tomorrow lol
