On a DD you would just have to change your driving style a little to compensate for the locker. People have been doing it forever now so I say go for it.

front or back?
as lliamsdad mentioned, just change you're driving style.
aussie and lock-rite are pretty much the same type locker, but i'd say go with lock-rite, they're made by richmond gear. plus i have them too. lol.
on a dd, only go with rear.

lock right front, detroit back and its fine. i only notice the detroit in the turns if your on the gas. it will chirp the inside tire a little. the front is totally unnoticeable.

Depends on whether you plan to wheel it. I personally hate a LSD, I currently have one in the front and can't wait to replace it. I ran Aussies front and rear before the axle swap and after about a month you don't notice anything but the looks you get in a parking lot cause you are clicking any nonwheelers think your junk is falling apart. The front is unnoticeable till you put it in 4wd then you can't steer on pavement.

i'm running a lockrite in a rear xj44 on 36's. it doesn't get much street except for the 300kms to the trails, but haven't had a problem in the 5 years i've had it in there, and i'm not easy on it. especially around some corners, i like the chirps.
