AUDIO problem
Hey everyone,
I've got a question about the audio system in my XJ.
It has a stock (chrysler) radio and the original speakers in it.
But only 3 of the 4 speakers actually work. (its the one in the left front door that fails.)
Now i've tried to measure the ampèrage and voltage and that seemed normal to me. But the resistance (OHM) was about 150 K OHM while at the others peakers it was about 15 - 30.
Whats the problem then? The wiring to this speaker? Or someting else?
Thanks in advance,
PJ

Try step 2 of the comon since trouble shooting guide...
Step 1. Mechanical Agitation. (Beat the Hell out of it)
Step 2. Comparative Trouble shooting. (Swap it with a know good part)
Step 3. Re-engineer it. (Take it apart, put it back together without all the parts)

Also did the opposite, front speaker did work in the other door and ceiling. Not in the front left door.
Then step 1 came along
So the speaker itself isn't broken, maybe the wiring or the radio is?

The front speaker wire runs pretty close to the screw that hols the Kick Panel on. Do a quick check to see if someone nicked it when screwing the Kick Panel back on... Could be easier than pulling new wire! Running heavier wire to those speakers is realy not needed unless you are going to run some serious power and if you are going to change the wire size pull new wire to all your speakers keeping the length of your left and right the same.

I just fixed my driver door speaker yesterday... after I took off the lower kick panel I found the brown/red wire and the green wire that goes to the speaker, I cut those two and ran about 12 inches of leftover speaker wire I had laying around and that was it... the original green wire was broken in the harness going through the rubber sleeve... the brown/red wire was the negative side to the speaker and the green was the positive...
