ASD Relay Pops Fuse
1996 4.0 engine quit suddenly as I came to a stop today. Cranks but no start. Fuel pump primes. Pops a 30a fuse in the engine compartment whenever I turn the key to on position. Fuse does not pop if the ASD relay is removed. Swapped relay with known good unit still pops the fuse.
Anything specific to look at?
Thanks..

Yes, any downstream circuit from the ASD relay to the ignition or fuel injectors may be shorted to the body. If the cylinder head was recently changed, look at the harness behind the head. Also check the bottom of the PDC fuse box.

Decided to disconnect a few things such as coil, injectors, O2 sensor in an attempt to isolate the apparent short. The first random wire I randomly looked at was leaning against the valve cover and lost it’s insulation in that one spot. Electrical tape and a zip tie to prevent further contact, damn thing is running now. That took all of 10 minutes.

That's called "noggin' pokin'" in the trade! Sometimes things are simple. Thanks for the comeback. Glad it was that simple.
