Nothing you can do will make them not smash a window just from spite. Besides, nobody does anything when they hear a car alarm anyhow.

Back in 87, there was a Pontiac/Nissan dealership here in Syracuse that had a reputation for shoddy work and ripping customers off on labor. Then one night someone entered the back lot and severely damaged over 30 cars and trucks by smashing glass and denting body panels with baseball bats! Some of them were customer's cars in for service. As far as we know, there were no arrests, but lots of litigation resulting in the dealership changing owners. The point of this is if someone has a beef with you, there's not much you can do about it except garage your ride.

I have a cool story about my dog. His name was Noah. He was a German Shepherd. Although, his papers had him titled as an American White Shepherd Dog.
He came with me almost everywhere I went when he was alive. He would lay on the front passenger seat of my Camaro's with me when it was just him and I, or next to my little girl in the backseat of my Subaru's and stuff.
My little girl was about five years old at the time. She was sitting in her car seat in the back with Noah. All the windows were rolled down, and her Mom got out of the car for a second to walk over to the Grandparents vehicle. I was coming out of a store heading back to them. I saw a total stranger sneaking up to my Subaru looking suspicous like he was gonna try and steal something? He went right to the driver side front window and he obviously did not see Bren or my dog in the back seats.
I saw Noah leap over Bren landing with his paws on the lower window frame with his full head and shoulders out of the open window. I have never seen Noah look as scary serious as he did on that particular day! Noah was every bit of 90-100 lbs, and he could have easily crushed or otherwise really hurt my little girl. But, not a scratch was put on her.. The probable thief about fell down as he ran off. It was one of those you had to be there moments.
A big scary looking well trained dog kept with you wherever you go will help to deter criminals. It has worked well for me in the past.
It does not work too good overnight (if it is an inside dog), or when the weather is hot outside to leave the dog in a vehicle, too much time to spend in the vehicle while at work, etc...

I suggest a car alarm with a custom horn/tone. A regular car alarm doesn’t really scare anyone off. But if your car alarm were, say, a police siren or a really loud voice “BACK AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. LETHAL FORCE IS AUTHORIZED.” Or liberty prime from fallout, you would be able to recognize it much quicker

lol I don’t have a beef with anyone. I asked if anyone knows a decent alarm system.

You mentioned it was neighborhood kids with nothing better to do. I seriously doubt there is anything that will deter them and some things may even encourage them. If you are renting, I would suggest moving. I use my jeeps in my business, so they are more important to me than just transportation.

I don’t live in the best neighborhood and moving is a pipe dream. So the last time this happened they had a 2nd car with them. They unloaded the tools and damaged the car. But then came back and took the car. I know because my neighbor has a camera. I can see the car from my window so if it had gone insane crazy with noises and stuff I probably could have convinced them to not take the car.
the garage has some more valuable vintage cars in it right now. I just want something loud AF to wake me up.
is viper any better than it was years ago? Do I even need to care which brand I buy? Whatever I had before really screwed with the old Jeep.
