Antenna Wire Help Needed
Hey guys,
I bought a '93 XJ, previous owner told me he though their was a antenna wire short. Made sense since I could play CDs without issues, but radio had poor reception and a lot of static.
I was going to pull the antenna wire (and a pull string with it) and check for the cable for bare wire. Thus the beginning of my hell. I disconnected the antenna wire from the radio, unscrewed the antenna from the stem - so far so good. As I began to unscrew the antenna base I quickly realize the stud was turning too. I found some instructions online, took off the mud guard and tried to grip the below-the-surface portion of the base - God that was hard. Eventually I did unscrew the top net and the antenna base dropped down. The cable had already fallen out out of the base. I quickly found that the antenna cable had an intermediate connection between end to end, and it was already disconnected.
So now I am left with removing the existing antenna wire and re-running a new one - has anyone tackled this? What are some of the basic steps to access the antenna wire? How much paneling needs to come off?
Thanks,
Kelly

i was having the same or a similar problem. My jeep when i got it the radio was fine, over the months it started getting really crappy reception and would just cut out for a few minutes and then come on dimly. Eventually it just didnt work at all. Turned out the stock radio was bad and not the radio wire like i thought it was going to be.
