Keep a very close eye on it. They tend to leak oil out the back when they finally give up, and carb cleaner sprayed into the sender may accelerate the process. It eats some plastics for lunch.

I'm going to get one, this was just a band aid...
I didn't spray directly into it, kinda brushed past it while I grasped it in a gloved hand. I doubt it will last long, but it was worth trying.

When you buy the new one make sure you spend the extra money and get one with a lifetime warrenty...I have had to warrenty mine out twice so the warrenty was worth the extra money.

Yup, I always try to buy lifetime parts...
Against the advice of some people on here I'm buying mine at autobone.... $18 with a lifetime warranty. You can bet your patootie that it will be installed in the parking lot before I leave.
I gotta look on my donor engine and see if it has one on there too.
