That's what I'm doing. I've got the leaf and the eye of the spring cut off. I'm going to torch the bushing off next, then either pound the sleeve free or cut it off. Here's a pic of the nut inside the bracket.

Nice. Im at almost the same spot. It poured here almost all day so I couldnt use any power tools, so Im going back at it today. If your nut isnt moving but the bolt is turning and popping the bushing and/or sleeve, you have a few options. Keep posting your results and when I get mined done Ill do the same. Right now Im in the middle of cutting the leaf and bushing apart but Im having a LOT of trouble. What did you use to cut into that plate? My buddy is out of town for a week and I dont have access to his plasma cutter until he is back so Im kinda screwed.

I just used a pneumatic cut off wheel to cut through everything but the bushing so far. The bushing I just torched untill it was mostly burned up and used a pry bar to get what was left. It was a very stinky smokey nite in my garage All that's left now is the sleeve inside the bushing and the bolt which are seized together. Hopefully I'll be able to cut the sleeve off and save the bolt.

"i used a sawz-all to cut the bushing out. cut on each side of the bushing."-4 Wheel Drive Magazine (Aug 2011) shows how they did it! Same way, get the issue.

Use a hole saw to cut out bushings if you can replace them with new.

Hahaha I win! Got both leaf springs and shocks out today. I managed to get both bolts out in 1 piece too. The threads are lookin a bit rough though, so they might be replaced. I'm definitely shellacking the bolts in anti-seize before I pit the big springs in.

Congrats. I worked on mine for another 5 hours today. Made some SERIOUS headway, but Im still stuck. Found out my bolt actually snapped in the sleeve and seized up. My buddy brought over his compressor and cutter so I got it apart no prob (that just jumped like 10 spots on my list of "must have" tools). I had like an inch of bolt sticking out of the welded nut, but after PB Blaster and Deep Creep, it wouldnt budge and I snapped the nut. So, my question to you is, did you have bolt sticking through the back of your nut? I did, too much to drop the nut out. I worked on cutting it off but cant really get at it (I cut the underside of the box like in that photo) and I also can get a wrench on the nut itself. I tried all kinds of sizes but everything was too small or too big. Wonder if rust has swollen it up.

Also, Im glad I cut it open because it was FULL of mud and rust. Going to do the best I cant to sand everything and put some POR in there.

Im wondering, does anyone know of relocation brackets that make the nut more accessible? Something similar to stock but that replaces the stock plates? Definitely a major PITA. Hopefully the other side goes smoother, but if not Ive now got some tools and know-how.

Just got my passenger side done. WOW! If you dont have the tools, youre screwed on doing this. And even then its not quick or easy. Here is a link to my post about mine. Im hoping to write up an in-depth, how-to, to post in that section because this is NOT a job for a person with time constraints, the faint of heart or tool-less driveway mechanic. You will be LUCKY to throw a wrench on the bolts and walk away, unless you live far from the salt, snow and water.
