I replaced my crankshaft position sensor(cps) about a month ago and just today, I found out the new one is bad now! What the heck!?!
Could there be another gremlin causing this or did I just have some bad luck with buying the new BWD sensor and it was no good out of the box?
Its not taking the sensor out thats hard. Its putting the S.O.B. back in thats the real pain.

I bought them from O'Reilly cause my good friend gives me his employe discount which can be up to 60% off. The sendor is a BWD brand which is usually good to great quality. It is made in Mexico though. Is that better or worse than being made in China?
I may just go to the junk yard when the blizzard snow melts and gets warmer here in Denver and pick several of these sensors for dirt cheap.

What i learned changing CPS Flexin91...
Remove air box,you can stand on your head and just reach sensor.
Find every 3/8" extension in tool box..2",3",6" wobbley+18" straight.
Use 3' lenght of 3/8"fuel hose to stab bolts back in bellhousing.
I put a wrap of blue tape on bolt head and hose, didnt want to go fishing in bellhousing!
Let us know price of OE sensor.Think ill get spare, just in case.Thanks.

I got mine at AutoChina (<<LOL at that, btw). One of those Hecho en Taiwan Duralasts. I was happy to see 0.52v AC from it and it's been working flawlessly for the past three months. Of course, it was only $28 so I assume it will fail at the most inopportune time, which is why I bought two and have the spare in my cargo box with a 32" 3/8 extension, a ratchet, socket, a bottle of Advil and a box of bandaids.

My 90 Renix takes a different CPS. The last one from Napa lasted 12 years, I just replaced it last month with the one they call "Premium". It's Echlin, .56 volts and fine so far.
If your left arm will fit up past the front drive-line, to hold it, the Job can be a snap!

Seems like last I looked there were 8 or 9 different numbers. Some 2 bolt, some 1 bolt, even an adjustable one. Make sure you get the RIGHT one for your Jeep.
Some parts houses might combine numbers, thinking they are all the same.

I just answered a thread on another forum with a faulty BWD crank sensor. The sensor tested fine electrically, but it appears that the "spacing" of the sensor was what was creating the problem. The fact that it tested okay made things confusing to the owner. A new OEM Mopar crank sensor resolved it.
Not saying that is the problem here, but it sure could be. I buy plenty of aftermarket parts, but the crank sensor is one part that I buy ONLY from Jeep, especially for the most critical engine management sensor on the engine.
I just ordered one online from moparpartsonline and paid under $60 plus shipping for an OEM Mopar sensor.

Just got my Mopar CPS from the Pro Jeep deallership here in Colorado. $108 bucks after tax!!! And only a ONE year warranty. But I looked on the box and it reads "Made in USA" Hope it lasts 20 years like the origanal one from the factory did.

Money well spent. And yes, 20 years is not a bad lifetime for a crank sensor!!
