Default Angle with 3" lift question?

I'm sure there are other threads about this, but, I only put a 3" lift in and it's a 2wd XJ. All the thread I could find say to put in a SYE, but the seems over kill for my XJ. I was wondering if there is any other way to equal up the driveshaft angles, maybe some kind of wedge? or spacers on the X-member?

and if so where could I get them, or how would I make them?

Thanks alot guys,
J

Do a inch TC drop and it should take care of any of your problems

don't have a TC. it's 2wd..... Could I just get longer bolts for the X-member, and put like an inch spacer in between the frame and x-member?

Longer bolts with spacers, by lowering the trans it reduces the angle of the driveline. I would try it with out first, you may not get any vibs.

Thats what i was gonna say too. Looking under my 2wd, its got a pretty long driveshaft. It doesn't seem like a 3" lift would create any vibes with how long it is. I could b wrong tho.

Why drop the cross member? Its more work and you will lose ground clearance. Which is why you lifted it, right? The correct way to do the fix is the shims. Just my two cents and experiance. The RE shims are made of steel not aluminium and will not crack like some of the less expensive ones.

When I lifted my 2WD 3" I got some slight vibes. Enough to annoy me, and I ended up using a 1" crossmember drop. It has largely fixed the issue, though I still get the slightest little rumble every once and awhile. I want to add a shim but I'm not sure on the degree to use. Would a 4 degree be too much with the 1" x-member drop, or would 2 or 3 degree be better?

For the OP, I would do the x-member drop and see where you end up as far as vibes go, you may not end up having to do any more than that.. If not, I imagine the addition of a shim should solve any remaining issues.
