Default Amp and subwoofer installation.

Hey guys. Now that i got the stereo rewired and working right i want to kick it up a notch. I was wondering. Where is it safe to bolt down the amp? I dont want to drill in and potentially hit the gas tank. Also i want to run a seperate battery for the system but i havent really seen any guides to do that. Does anyone know of any cheap but good 8 gauge amp wiring kits with the proper terminal connectors? any input or experience with this would be appreciated. Also im quarter retarded so pictures help too =P

Bolt it using short studs or mount it on plastic trim

Seperate battery-Wire from Alt to battery pos., wire from batt neg to frame. Done.

You could bolt the amp right to the top of the box for the sub. Thats how I did mine. And how much power are you talking? Why use a second battery?

Well honestly i dont want to drill or hurt the sub box. Its gonna be a pretty expensive bandpass system. Im going to use cinchs with a flat braid to hold the sub and battery in place. Oh also where would a good spot be to run the ground? Im not going to be using back speakers so i think i could runt he ground to the lift gate's metal. My lock is broken so i cant get it open from the outside >.<

Dont get a bandpass. Get a vented box with the specific size in accordance to the sub. Bandpass rarely sounds good.

Seatbelt bolt.

Theres a bolt on the spare tire holder that attatches to the body. I just installed my sub and used that as a ground. How many watts you going to be pushing? I dont think you need a seperate battery. At most a capacitor would be more then enough. i have a 1800 watt max sub and a 1500 watt max amp, and even cranked I get almost no dimming in my lighting or anything. I will be adding a 1 farad cap soon.

Seatbelt bolt.

I agree, bandpass usually sounds terrible. Depending on the sub/s a sealed or vented is the way to go. My buddy has a big sealed box for a 15" and it sounds amazing.

Not a great ground, seatbelt bolt goes directly to frame.

Wrong use for stiffening capacitors, go read up on caraudioforum.com.

Get something larger than 8 gauge wire, it will give you light dim and can cause problems in your electrical, don't waste your money on a distibutor cap they are worthless unless your running over 2000 solid watts.

What are you planning on purchasing for your sub and amp? Do you have any wood working skills if so build your own box it will sound 100 times better because you can build it for your subs actual configuration.

The guys over at caraudio.com will design a box for your sub for free you just need to have the sub specifications and size requirements for your ride

8 ga is fine for <500wrms.

I guess I've always been misinformed on caps, thanks for the audio forum.
However the ground I'm using is doing just fine for the time being. When i get my new system I'll use a different ground and run everything cleaner. This was a quick install to get me going.

Also ive had electrical issues before. I bought this battery but it was too powerful and it melted my started wire and since i had already technicly used it i couldnt get a refund so im trying to justify using it for something. And to deliver a clean solid power supply to the amp and sub rather than draining of of the main battery makes sense especially when i already have the battery and its just sitting here collecting dust and i wont ever have another use for it. I would nromally build my own box ive done that with home audio but i have no wood working tools to do so. And i want to have this set up fairly quickly.
