88 laredo was working just fine, now no start. i took the starter to shop and checked out fine. took test light and checked the celenoid, and the light came on when you turn the key on, the temp gauge went to 240 and the fuel pump hums, but no start. what to do next?

 

no start as in fire up and run????? or does not turn over???????

 

no turn over, but guages go crazy when you try to turn over.

 

if you took the starter to a reliable shop and it tested good clean the battery terminals and tighten their connections see what happens

 

ok, did that already, cleaned balance resistor too.

 

the selinoid on the starter you tested correct did you see if the big red cable has current also???on the starter

 

yes, it does.

 

turn the head light on and try and start it do the lights go off???

 

ok, tried that, the headlights do not go off.

 

if this was mine i get a new starter according to what youve told me no matter what they told me after testing

 

if i jumped the selenoid and nothing happens (egnition on) then starter sucks?

 

YOu have voltage to your starter but no amperage. Battery cables and connections are highly suspect.
