I know I have seen tons of threads on it before but my phone can't find any and I don't have access to a computer.

This morning I got into my car whent to the gas station because I didn't notice that my light was on and I drove to almost empty anyway I started the car and picked some one and whent to school. I accede toy left my lights on and when I got out it would not start so I tried to get a jump from about 6 ppl until some one had the brigh idea for me to rev it and bam the jeep roared to life but the second I let off the gas it died I don't think it's the alternator because if I turned it on for a few sec and turned it off repeatedly it would not take any longer to crank I think it might be crud in the fuel filter or the tps/iac I'm not an expert by many means but it's all I can think of

I would go with you sucked crud off the bottom of your tank and clogged your fuel filter. If not, there is also the chance of a marginal battery that can start your xj, but can not keep it running without constant throttle. I would really lean towards a fuel issue since you about ran it dry.
