Default all over the road....

New to forum. Found a lot of good stuff on here so far. Hoping that someone might be able to help me out. Just got a 91 cherokee limited for a decent price everything on it works great, engine is strong for 200,000 miles. Only problem is that when you start driving it feels like it all over the road. Kinda feels like your floating. It doesn't really dart off but just doesnt seem right. Anyone got any suggestions? What do I need to get to get the steering tight again. Also it really rough going over any kind of bump. Makes a peeble feel like a boulder. Any help would definately be appreciated.

Thanks

fill up all grease fittings in your tie rod ends.

inspect your say bar bushings. if you can see any interior surface of the frame bushings change them out. as for the end links check for any excessive play, and if your Jeep is lifted consider longer end links.

have a friend move the steering wheel back and forth and check for play in the steering joints and trackbar and replace whatever is worn as for the bumpy ride it is a jeep and wont ride like luxury car but a good set of shocks go a long way

In additiona to ball joints previously mentioned;
Check you control arm bushings... if those are wore out the front axle geometry will constantly be shifting... additionally, worn bushings will cause reverberation thru the chassis when hitting bumps.
At 200k miles, your steering box is likely very worn and in need of replacement... mine is at 170k miles.
