Ive been expericiencing the symptoms of the no bus error/problem. so i decided to take dash apart and clean the connectors. Well i did this and everything was fine or atleast not worse than before. The next day i go to drive my jeep and none of the gauges even move. When i start the jeep some lights do turn on than off as they should. Also the digital odometer does not work. I rechecked the 2 connectors that plug into the cluster but nothing. What else should i look for. I checked 2 fuses that say there for the cluster/instrument panel but there fine. Its a 2001 Cherokee. Where are the grounds i should check?
A wire from the brush didn't stick in there and short anything out by chance?
I know pitifully little about the CCD bus other than cleaning the connectors often works.
You need to track down CCKen

Could be a ground wire issue. The gauges on my '99 randomly die all the time since I got it lol. One day nothin' then the next everything's fine...really annoying

I think I read a post with same issue that ccken helped out on. Didnt have time to read it all but it turned out to be a speed sensor on the transfer case I think. I'm gonna have to look into that thread some more. My gauges would randomly die but now they don't work at all. So totally different issue now. I took apart to clean connectors and worked afterwards but next day nothing but cluster lights worked. I drove today and I knew I was low on gas wasn't sure if my low gas light would come on or not but it did.

This is the only info I found with the same problem I'm having. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/9...rking-1336742/ I think I might be making some progress. The cbus + & - at the data link connector half about 2.3-2.4 volts and less than 1 volt behind the cluster. I beleive it should have about 2.5 volts. So Im thinking I somehow losing those volts threw bad connection or wire. My next step is to trace those wires but seems kinda hard. Where else do these wires run to and do I have to remove the whole dashboard.

I had a problem where my gauges would randomly turn on and off - sounds somewhat similar to yours. I fixed it by taking the whole instrument cluster out and twisting the many plugs every so slightly so that, when plugged back in, they would connect. So the problem had been that the plugs where lose. I hope that made sense? I wish you luck; problems like that really stink!

I think I need 2.5 volts at the + & - bus connectors behind cluster. I'm only getting .5 volts. I'm thinking this is the problem so now I'm trying to track down why. I've tried wiggleing and twisting a bunch of wires with no success.
Might try disconnecting everything that is connected to that bus one by one to see which is pulling the voltage down.
