Well guys, I may have really messed up this time. I was putting on an SYE kit and driveshaft, aside from a couple hang ups involving the potoroos of the trans mount and crossmember, everything went pretty well. That is, until I tried to test drive it. Key turned on all electrical components but the car would not crank. So I went under the car and manually started it with a screwdriver against the starter poles. It started, but sounded bad, a few knocking noises and a little sputtering. Went back inside to try and drive it but ALL of the shift options (4.0 Auto Trans) resembled the normal neutral gear, even park. Any ideas where to start looking?

I read a post on here about the possibility of the transfer case being between gears as I did disconnect the transfer case shift linkage and am leaving it disconnected for the time being (before I get an upgraded shift kit).

EDIT: I manually shifted the transfer case back into 2wd and now at least my transmission shifter works and the car is in park. Still no crank though

 

Check the wiring to the neutral safety switch. Does it start if you put it in neutral? Reverse lights work? Here's a couple of videos on cleaning and adjusting the switch.
