Default Airbag Light On After Replacing Guage Cluster Connectors

One day I turned on my 2000 XJ and the gauges didn’t work, check engine light on and airbag light on. After doing research, I tried to clean gauge connectors and pins on cluster, didn’t work. Replaced connectors today, and that fixed everything but the airbag light is still on. I manually reset my computer by disconnecting negative and positive battery terminals and let sit for 40 mins. Airbag light still on? Anyone have any ideas how to fix? Seems like it should be simple since all other symptoms were fixed by replacing gauge connectors (and since all symptoms started at same time).

Would really appreciate any any help as I am getting very frustrated.

thanks

Does your horn still work? The reason I'm asking is the horn, cruise control, and airbag are connected thru the steering wheel clockspring.

Dave, I figured it out. It was actually really stupid. When trying to figure out another issue, I forgot that I borrowed that fuse and never put it back! So when I fixed my connector issue (which should have fixed airbag light) the missing fuse obviously kept the light on. I never really considered that a possibility because I didn’t see any reason the fuse would be defective since I already checked all of them.

I had a revelation tonight while reading another post, someone said it only takes seconds to check fuse 26 and 27, I thought I might as well double check. Went out there and I was so happy to see a missing fuse! Ugh, so glad that is over.

Thanks!!
